Karatay Madrasa (Museum of Seljuk Tiles and Ceramics)
Overview
Built in 1251 by the Seljuk vizier Celaleddin Karatay, this former theological school is now a museum of Seljuk tile art and ceramics. The main hall's floor-to-ceiling blue and turquoise tilework is genuinely one of the best-preserved examples of 13th-century Seljuk craftsmanship anywhere in Turkey.

Things to Do in Konya
Konya is a genuinely different side of Turkey — conservative, historically significant as the home of the Sufi mystic Rumi, and far less internationally-oriented than the coastal cities. This collection ranks what's worth seeing. **Good to know:** Konya is noticeably more conservative than the coastal cities — modest dress is genuinely appreciated, not just at the Mevlana Museum. Alcohol is far less available here than in Istanbul or the resorts. The December Whirling Dervishes ceremony (Seb-i Arus) draws big crowds — book well ahead if visiting then.
